I’ve owned multiple wetsuit hangers with the button and the locking mechanisms, but all of them eventually failed because of my wetsuit’s weight. I did like the design with the broad shoulders, but I couldn’t find an alternative that was stronger. I saw this new hanger and figured I should give it a try, and I’ve got to say, I’m very impressed. It folds upward instead of downward, and the weight is carried by the two shell pieces. I’ve put some serious weight on it, and it didn’t buckle under the pressure. So far so good!

Wetsuits are a big problem for scuba divers on trips in my opinion. Rentals are often not properly taken care of and can smell badly. Or they are so worn out and sun-damaged that they flip and flop around the diver, allowing for inflow of a lot of colder water and the loss of the layer of warm water that would keep the diver warm.
In short, when I travel, I prefer taking my own thinner wet suit with me. Drying can be another issue. The washed and wet neoprene sheets stick to each other, and the suit will smell pretty badly.
These hangers provide the necessary airflow when the suit flops in the breeze.
The wide shoulder hangers prevent that the wet neoprene sags down and gets stretched when hanged on a standard narrow shoulder support hanger. If that happens, one ends up with a large and weird looking pocket above the shoulder that is called by some folks ‘shoulderboobs’.

I used to primarily use the Shoulder Saver hanger by Baker to help dry and protect my wetsuit, however, it’s super large, somewhat difficult to get into the wetsuit, and generally a little on the clunky side. I feel like the Hang 11 Wetsuit Hanger solves all these problems while still offering the benefits of the Shoulder Saver. The fact that the sides fold up mean that you can just drop it in the neck of your suit and it pretty much expands into the arms automatically when you pull it up again. Feels really sturdy and supports an 8mm dripping wet wetsuit with no problems.

UPDATE 9/14/2024:
My first hanger, reviewed below, has continued to perform. It has shown no indication of failure so I ordered a second…this time with a fun pink hook. There’s not much else to add to my first review except that this wetsuit hanger is the best I’ve ever used. It worth every penny and deserves every one of its 5 stars.
ORIGINAL REVIEW 1/26/2024:
This is a wonderful wetsuit hanger! I like everything about it, but especially the extra-wide shoulders with cut-outs to help speed drying. The shape also helps prevent wetsuit deformation and damage. All-plastic construction makes it impervious to rust.
The swivel hook is plastic. I was concerned about its robustness and how well it would stand up to the weight of a saturated wetsuit so tested it with one of our heavy leather flight jackets. Much to my amazement the hook held up to the weight, and the hanger did not break. This was very reassuring – and I liked how well the shoulders of the flight jacket were supported. If we didn’t already have special broad-shouldered hangers for the jackets I would seriously consider ordering more of these wetsuit hangers specifically for them. This hanger also supports my husband’s heavy drysuit.
The hook’s ability to swivel is a terrfic feature. Additionally, its deep and wide configuration allows hanging on a wide range of poles.
Although this hanger neatly and easily collapses for travel it is unlikely we will take it on tropical diving trips: it simply takes up too much suitcase room. However, this wonderful hanger will be going with us on local dive trips. We will also utilize it after every excursion – local or tropical – when we re-rinse our wetsuits at home because dunk tank water cleanliness can be…questionable.
This is a wonderful hanger for land, sea, and sky apparel, and helps to protect the substantial investment in valuable specialty garments. Not only does it ease drying, this hanger helps prevent damage caused by improper storage such as folding wetsuits or utilizing narrow hangers. It would make a thoughtful gift for a diving buddy.
I highly recommend this terrific folding hanger for specialty garment care and will be ordering more.

This hanger is perfect for your wet suit or dry suit. It’s easy to use and folds quite nicely. It is also pretty sturdy but not heavy or over designed.

This is an excellent product. I have wetsuits for diving, for open water swimming and because you make an investment in your wetsuits you should make an investment in taking care of them properly so they last longer.

For how small and light this is – this seems to be *the* mechanism to make it strong. It’s just so obvious when you think about it. Doesn’t fold as small as others but I think that’s worth it.

Clever design that allows lots of airflow and folds for travel

Just received it and hung my suit. Very well made, works smoothly and seems up to the task. If you care about your wetsuit this is very good value.
Carolyn –
Not sure about how effectively it dries the suit but it was easy to use, looks durably and smartly made.

If you’ve been on a few less-than-high luxury liveaboard scuba diving expeditions, you’ll know the pain of putting on a wet, cold wetsuit for a final night dive or early morning outing. Hanging up your wetsuit in a manner that lets it ventilate does a lot to dry it out quickly, and avoiding creasing an unhung wetsuit is also always a good idea. The folding design of this hanger is smart, and while it’s still larger than what I’d want to pack on a long-distance flight to a scuba location, I do include it in the large gear bag I employ for local overnight trips. The plastic is a much stronger blend than ABS and the hinges are sturdy enough to support a wet wetsuit. This is a useful and quality product.

We have hangers for our scuba gear but no allow the wetsuit shoulders to be properly supported when drying. The shoulders of this hanger is wide and built like a tank. When not in use it folds up for easy storage but the folding doesn’t take way from the function. Great value and highly recommend!!

We initially bought two versions of this type of hanger (this one and another brand), intended to hold our 5 and 7 mm wetsuits when stowed away during surface intervals we well as to take it with us when we travel so our wetsuits air out / dry better between dives.
Both brands collapse to make them packable. We initially took the other brand with us on a first trip but then noticed that the way the arms lock is by “clicking” when pulled UP. Needless to say under the weight of our wetsuits, it took exactly 2 days for that to fail and break into pieces.
On our next trip we took these ones which work the exact opposite way, they expand “downwards” which makes so much more sense. Used them 7 days in a row with our heavy 5mm suits and they work prefectly. There is no need to lock them in place, no weak points. They were about 10$ each more expensive than the other brand but SO WORTH IT! Got a second set right away and they are part of our scuba pack list for every trip!
Definitely worth the investment!

I got this hanger for my 7mm suit. I purchased something similar for my 3mm, but this one feels more heavy duty. If it does fail though, the design of it means it should fail open and still be usable.

I bought this to hold my vest and duty belt between shifts. It is strong and sturdy, and holds all my gear well while keeping my vest open for ventilation. The paddles have held up well for a couple months now and still feel like they could hold more weight!

I have been struggling with how to hang my wetsuit so it can dry and also finding a hanger strong enough to hold it. This is a great solution. It took just a couple of minutes to figure it out and than my wetsuit was hanging so perfectly on the hanger. If you are looking for a hanger for your wetsuit this might be your last purchase.

This hanger is perfect for hanging my son’s wetsuit. Hanging allows for faster drying and ideal long term storage.

I will admit I have occasionally used regular plastic hangers tripled up to hang some of my wetsuits. This is actually the first dedicated wetsuit hanger I have used.
The thing that caught my eye about this particular wetsuit hanger is that it was foldable and had a shape that looked more formed for a wetsuit than some others I have seen. It is also ventilated to help the suits dry. The fact that it folds up is a bonus. It may not seem like a big deal, but this allows you to either fold it up or leave it open for packing depending on what fits best. There are no latches or detents to hold the hanger open or closed.
I tested it with my old thin 3mm, my merino wool lined 3mm and my merino wool 6mm. It could easily hold the wet 6mm wetsuit without seeming like it would break. Inserting the hanger closed and then opening it inside is easier on the thinner suits and gets nearly impossible on the thicker suits without unzipping the suit. The hook on the hanger wraps a little more around than typical, but in my view, this helps the hanger stay hooked if the suit and hanger are being moved around like on a boat.
These seem to be nice, well-made wetsuit hangers. I will definitely get enough to store my other suits. Otherwise, I might end up with those unfortunate holes in the shoulders of the suits.
